The Long Now invites artists and collectives working in lens-based and installation practices who expand the language of image, sound, material, and performance to propose distinct ways of living and perceiving time. We seek projects that make duration visible, audible, and embodied—through haunting, resonance, material transformation, and collective attention.

MOMENTA Biennale d’art contemporain is pleased to announce the appointment of Toleen Touq as curator for its 20th edition, titled The Long Now, which will take place in 2027. The Long Now proposes a biennale structured by duration, where time becomes both medium and method. Unfolding through 2027, it interrogates our present—the temporal logics that organize it, the affects through which it is lived, and its mediation through cultural and visual politics. Rather than accepting the present as given, the biennale approaches it as structured, contested, and unevenly lived, inviting duration as a means of keeping time open and unresolved.

As part of the 23rd edition of the Nuit blanche à Montréal, MOMENTA and the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) invite you to a festive closing night of In Praise of the Missing Image at Place Ville Marie, presented in collaboration with Ausgang Plaza, and Place Ville Marie.

Through powerful works that bring censored images, erased stories, and marginalized figures to light, the exhibition’s seven artists give voice to historical silences and the hidden gaps in our collective memory, opening space for new perspectives. Art mediators will be present from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Memories in Motion: a drop-in creative workshop

The MAC’s mediators invite you to experiment with a variety of artistic techniques, including drawing and watercolour, inspired by River Water, a mural by artist Niap. No previous experience required!

Dance party hosted by Le Maquis and Forward Movements

DJs, VJs, and dancers from both collectives come together for a high-energy night on the dance floor.

Sound performance Nepantlandia by Martin Rodríguez

In a liminal space (nepantla), between body and signal, the artist creates fragmented soundscapes linked to his Xicanx identity, using live radio transmissions, interference, and performative gestures.
